Day 3: Photograph a Subject
May 17, 2026
Every photo is about something.
Even if it’s not obvious at first.
A subject doesn’t have to be a person. It can be anything—a shape, a shadow, a detail, a color. What matters is that you decide what the photo is about.
What to Look For
Before you take a photo, pause and ask:
- What am I really noticing here?
- What made me stop?
- If someone else looks at this, what do I want them to see first?
If you can’t answer that, the photo might feel unclear.
Your Task
Take one photo today with a clear subject.
Pick one thing and let it stand out.
It might be:
- A single person in a larger scene
- One object on a table
- A detail others might miss
- A contrast—light vs shadow, rough vs smooth
Try to make it obvious (without forcing it).
Keep It Simple
You don’t need to add anything.
In fact, try removing things:
- Move closer
- Change your angle
- Let the background fall away
Let one thing carry the image.
A Thought to Carry With You
If everything is important, nothing is.
Choose one thing—and let it matter.
