Day 4: Capture a Moment
May 17, 2026
A moment is something that doesn’t last.
You can’t set it up.
You can’t come back to it later.
It’s there—and then it’s gone.
What to Look For
Moments are often small.
- Someone laughing, just before they look away
- A gesture, a glance, a pause
- Wind moving through something
- A brief change in light or expression
They don’t announce themselves.
You have to notice them as they happen.
Your Task
Take one photo today that captures a moment.
Not something posed.
Not something still.
Something in between.
It might be:
- A person mid-action
- A candid expression
- Movement—walking, turning, reaching
- A brief interaction between people
You’re not just photographing what is there.
You’re photographing when it happens.
Keep It Simple
You might miss it the first time.
That’s part of it.
Stay a little longer than you normally would.
Watch instead of rushing.
Be ready—but don’t force it.
A Thought to Carry With You
A good photo shows what something looks like.
A meaningful one shows when it happened.
