A GURU Bike Fit
I recently had a bike fitting with Bart Bowen at Bowen Sports Performance, and it was a genuinely impressive experience from start to finish.
Bart uses the GURU Dynamic Fit Unit, which makes the whole process feel a bit like visiting an optometrist—except you’re pedaling the entire time. Instead of static adjustments, he walks you through a series of “this or that” comparisons (position 1 vs. position 2), helping you dial in what actually feels better while riding. It’s a very interactive process, and the more tuned in you are to your body, the more precise the outcome.
What stood out most was how quickly small changes translated into noticeable differences in comfort and power. Bart has a great way of guiding you through the process without overcomplicating things, and you come away feeling confident that the final position is truly tailored to you.
The real proof came on my first longer ride after the fitting—a 40-mile ride with about 1,600 feet of climbing. The biggest thing I noticed was that I was naturally riding in a heavier gear than usual. On flat sections where I’d typically be in gears 9 or 10, I found myself comfortably pushing gear 11. That’s not something I was trying to do—it just felt right.
We finished the ride climbing C-Street in Terrebonne, a short but punchy 10% grade at the end of the ride, and I felt strong and well-positioned even under that kind of effort.
Overall, I can honestly say the fitting was a success. The combination of Bart’s expertise and the dynamic nature of the GURU system made a real, noticeable difference in both comfort and performance. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to get more out of their riding.
